CHALLENGE
McDonald’s needed to relocate an existing site on Camp Pendleton Marine Base in Oceanside, CA. The site posed several challenges due to its size and the high volume of customers it serves with approximately 70,000 people on the base. Each day, all vendors and subcontractors had to be escorted onto the base by authorized personnel. Utility companies were not allowed to work on the base as well as fire and emergency alert systems had to be run on lines from a vault outside the base.
SOLUTION
To open the restaurant quickly, Sevan seamlessly integrated many new processes that were a mixture of base-specific (safety, security and utility) and timeline requirements from the McDonald’s development team. Working with the site contact and general contractor, the team organized over 100 escorts for the duration of the project.
RESULTS
Sevan developed a complex, multi-organizational teamwork effort to complete the project. Safety requirements were above OSHA standards, and supervisors were required to be E385 certified and follow all safety guidelines. Sevan fulfilled all standards and completed within the 100-day construction schedule.
