CHALLENGE
McDonald’s launched the Mod A Program to modernize front-of-house operations and customer-facing technology across more than 5,000 restaurants nationwide. Each year, approximately 1,000 locations require front counter replacements, POS system upgrades, digital menu boards, and remote ordering kiosks. Coordinating multiple vendors, franchisees, and local jurisdictions created complex scheduling, permitting, and site readiness challenges, all while maintaining drive-thru service.
SOLUTION
Sevan provided program management and technical oversight for the multi-year rollout. Sevan managed architectural drawings, permitting, and 360 surveys for each location. Three IT and low-voltage vendors were coordinated per site to ensure readiness. Weekly calls with franchisees and vendors maintained alignment, while front-end closures were scheduled to minimize operational disruption. Sevan verified site readiness, managed the bid process, and maintained scope and schedule through controlled change management.
RESULTS
Sevan modernized thousands of restaurants nationwide, executing front-end closures without impacting drive-thru service. POS systems, menu boards, and remote ordering kiosks were integrated successfully. The program maintained schedules across sites, coordinated multiple vendors efficiently, and delivered a consistent, high-quality customer experience at scale.
