CHALLENGE
McDonald’s Corporation embarked on a program to modernize 650 locations in the Southern California region–the largest remodel program in McDonald’s history. The initial program goal was to complete all locations in a 5-year period, and Sevan was challenged to accelerate the timeline.
SOLUTION
Sevan surveyed each restaurant using 360-degree scans coupled with laser measuring to provide accurate as-builts. These as-builts enabled Sevan and McDonald’s to remotely develop scopes of work, accurate construction costs and accurate equipment orders to facilitate construction management.
RESULTS
Sevan reduced planning and budgeting from projected two years to six months, saving $1.1 million. Sevan also completed the 5-year program in 2.5 years, creating an additional $120 million in margin added. The Sevan team likewise reduced change orders from 10% to 3%, saving an additional $21 million.
